Japan Veterinary Medical Association Personal Information Protection Policy

Japan Veterinary Medical Association (hereinafter referred to as "JVMA") is charged with the mission of widely contributing to society, such as improvement of animal health, promotion of livestock industry, and improvement of public health, through activities related to the uplift of the veterinary profession, promotion and dissemination of veterinary science, and improvement of veterinary medical services.

In order to accomplish this mission, JVMA shall handle personal information in accordance with the following policy, based on the spirit of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information.

1. Compliance with laws and regulations

JVMA shall protect personal information in compliance with the Japanese Industrial Standards "Personal information protection management system Requirements" (JIS Q 15001) as well as in compliance with the laws and regulations, guidelines and other norms set by the government regarding the handling of personal information.

2 Purpose of use of personal information

JVMA shall acquire, use and provide personal information in an appropriate manner, taking into account the nature of JVMA’s business, and shall use personal information only to the extent necessary to achieve the specified purpose of use. JVMA shall ensure that its officers and employees are aware of the purposes for which personal information is used and shall not handle personal information beyond the scope necessary to achieve those purposes.

3 Acquisition of Personal Information

JVMA shall make the purpose of collecting personal information clear and endeavor to collect it by appropriate means.

4 Safe Management of Personal Information

JVMA will take appropriate safety control measures and necessary corrective actions to prevent illegal access, loss, destruction, falsification and leakage of personal information.

5 Complaints and consultations regarding the handling of personal information

When JVMA receives any complaint or consultation regarding the handling of personal information, JVMA will promptly investigate the facts of the complaint or consultation and respond to it in good faith within a reasonable period of time.

6 Personal Information Protection Management System

In order to maintain the effectiveness of the personal information protection management system, JVMA shall conduct regular internal audits and continuously review and improve the system.
